Last year, the Demilitarize! Durham2Palestine coalition campaigned successfully to end police exchanges between the Durham Police Department and the Israeli military and police.

Demilitarize! Durham2Palestine coalition is currently raising money to fund our continued efforts to defend our victory against right-wing forces, to educate our community about Palestinian human rights, and to launch another campaign aimed at dismantling more of the structures of violence and oppression that harm our people, here and in Palestine.

Our coalition is mostly volunteer-based, but we’ve been able to hire part-time student fellows—five so far!—to learn new organizing skills and increase our coalition’s capacity. A $15/hour stipend allowed these students to put time into social justice work that they otherwise would not have been able to. Our summer 2019 fellows were able to contribute significant research towards our next campaign, organize the event “Reporting Palestine: A Media Bias Workshop” with Dr. Rania Masri, and help develop our website. Your donations will also fund food, space, and honoraria for our educational events, as well as support local artists and translators to ensure our messaging is accessible and compelling.

We have just hired two amazing new fellows who will help launch our next campaign in 2020!
